5 Signs Your Website Needs a Redesign

07.10.2026

Here's a simple test: when was the last time you sent a link to your own site to someone new — a client, a partner, an investor — and felt a slight twinge of embarrassment before hitting send? If that feeling is familiar, there's no need to guess further — just check the list below.

1. You're embarrassed to show the site out loud. Not «not quite perfect», but actually embarrassed — you open it in front of a potential client and brace yourself to make excuses. This is the most honest indicator of all: you can rationalize a design, but you can't fake away that awkward feeling.

2. Everything falls apart on mobile. Buttons overlap each other, text is either huge or microscopic, the menu doesn't open on the first tap. If more than half your visitors are on mobile and the site is simply uncomfortable to use there, that's not a minor flaw — it's half your audience quietly leaving.

3. The design is clearly from another decade. Drop shadows under buttons, «sunset» gradients, Times New Roman in headings, or, conversely, a pile of special effects everyone ditched five years ago. A visitor doesn't put it into words as «outdated visual language» — they just subconsciously decide the company either hasn't developed in a while or doesn't pay attention to detail. Neither one builds trust.

4. Competitors look miles ahead. Not necessarily objectively better — often just more modern and more confident. If you visit a competitor's site and catch yourself thinking «I wish ours looked like that», that's already your answer.

5. Any change is a whole quest. You want to add a new section, update prices, insert a video — and run into «the site just can't do that» or «it wasn't built that way». In this case, a redesign isn't about looks — it's about finally making the site stop being a drag on the business and start being a tool for it.

If at least two of these five points struck a nerve, this is no longer a matter of taste — it's a matter of how many leads the site is losing right now. Tell us about your site through the «Discuss a Task» form — we'll take a look at which of these apply to you and suggest where it makes more sense to start: a full redesign or targeted fixes.
